Do you have trouble making the perfect mitered corners on the binding of your handmade baby quilt?
The Mitered Corner Look

No matter the size or type of handmade baby quilt that is made, mitering the corners is the perfect and professional edging.
Despite the type of fabric used in the baby quilt, these 45 degree angle folds add the neat appearance and clean finish look. When putting your hard work into creating the perfect homemade baby quilt, the edge of the quilt needs to have the corner precise.
Measuring and Cutting Fabric for Mitered Corners

First, cut lengthwise strips 2 1/2 inches wide. If you want the binding to blend in, use the same colors as the quilt.
To sew the strips together, join the strips together to create a 90 degree angle. Sew a 1/4 inch seam and reinforce the ends.
Make sure you trim the excess batting and material on the edges of the baby quilt. Equally important, be sure to press the binding before attaching it to the quilt.
Successful Mitered Corner Tips

Be sure to start sewing the binding to the middle of the baby quilt’s edge. Use a 1/4 seam allowance.
Consequently, fold the binding up and press it. Next, bring the binding strip to the right with a 45-degree fold and then back to the left. This will fold it back down over itself and perpendicular to the seam. Approach each corner with the same procedure.
Next, turn the binding to the wrong side of the quilt. This will be handstitched. Trim the excess material from the corner. Equally important, be sure to fold the the binding and attached securely.
Follow these steps, carefully, to create the perfect mitered corners on the binding of your handmade baby quilt.
